SHOULD I WASH MY GEAR?
Yes, you should.
Here's why:
Dirt, body oil, and sweat build up on the fabric surface over time. Left alone, this residue breaks down the water-repellent finish on the outer shell — the layer that makes rain and snow bead off instead of soaking in. When that happens, you'll notice your jacket or bib feeling damp, heavy, or cold on the inside even if no water got through. The fix isn't a new jacket — it's a proper wash.
Handled with basic care — washed when needed, stored dry, DWR (durable water repellent) treatment topped up once a season — The AGNI shell is built to hold its waterproofing and durability across 3–4 full seasons.
HOW TO WASH MY GEAR?
1. Prep it
Close every zip, including pockets and vents, and fasten all Velcro. You can wash more than one piece at once — just don't mix heavily soiled gear with lightly worn pieces.
2. Set your machine
Use warm water (around 40°C). If your machine allows it, run two rinse cycles and keep the spin cycle low.
3. Pick the right detergent
Use a technical / sports-wear detergent made for waterproof fabrics. Skip powder detergent, fabric softener, and stain removers — they clog the fabric's pores and kill breathability.
4. Line dry first
Once the wash is done, hang it up to air dry.
5. Tumble dry to finish
When it's fully dry, tumble on low heat for about 20 minutes. The heat helps reactivate the water-repellent finish. No dryer? Use an iron on a low, non-steam setting with a towel between the iron and the fabric.
6. Reproof if needed
After washing, water should still bead off the surface. If it's soaking in instead ("wetting out"), it's time to reapply a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment — spray-on or wash-in, both work. Focus extra product on high-wear zones: shoulders, chest, seat, and cuffs.
