OUR STORY

Our 3 founders - Katherine, Queenie, Visala were born and raised in subtropical Hong Kong. United by their love for snow sports and the outdoors, they got together and created a brand of snow wear rich in both functionalities and personalities. Here is their journey. 

When we first attempted snow sports, we opted to buy snow wear from Taobao for the sake of convenience. We didn't understand the importance of good functional quality, and chose dull colors as most would. This nearly caused us an accident on the mountains under poor visibility during a blizzard.

What inspired you to create such a bright color palette? 

The snowy mountains often serve you fickle weather. It can be sunny and clear one minute then windy and miserable the next. There was once when the group was still beginners on the slope, the weather changed suddenly and visibility dropped to almost none. Visala was separated from the group and was nowhere to be found for over 20 minutes. The group notified the snow patrol and our more experienced riders went back up to assist with the search. As the search team approached a forest off piste, Queenie heard a voice yelling "Visala is here!”. As it turned out, Visala had deviated from the original piste and slid into the forest due to the low visibility.  Her phone died in the cold and she was helpless until a spot of bright orange came into sight. It was Queenie’s brightly colored orange hood that gave Visala a sight of hope in the abyss.

Based on this terrifying experience, the 3 agreed that AGNI snow wear would be unmistakably colorful like a flambeau on the snowy mountains. Gear up first, skills come after - we want to create functional snow wear to protect our users, and that bright spot of color may just save your life.

How does AGNI hold up against other brands in terms of functionality and innovation?

In terms of AGNI’s functional qualities and product innovation, we are supported by and affiliated with one of the largest GORE-TEX licensed manufacturers in the Greater China region, who is equipped with world-class product R&D capabilities. Most of the international brands are well equipped with a full fledge of functional features, but they are highly priced and ill fitted to Asian body types. After a day on the slope and a night of drinking, the founders had an epiphany to create a Hong Kong-based brand of snow wear that fits Asian body types with a unisex fitting approach.

What does “ALL GEAR NO IDEA” represent?

AGNI is as much a brand as it is a mindset.

Designed from the user's perspective, AGNI snow wear is made with state-of-art craftsmanship and materials, comparable to those of major international brands, to achieve excellence in breathability, waterproofing, and windproofing for utmost comfort and protection. Each AGNI product is eye-catching and easy to spot on the snowy mountains which allows both novice and experienced riders to fly down the slope in style and comfort.

Skills are to be accumulated gradually; rarely one can achieve expertise from the start. AGNI hopes to inspire and nurture that little spark in you to experience the snow without reservation. Take on every slope and challenge every ride in AGNI snow wear.
